For
years some of my locker room buddies at the Airport Club have been talking
to me about a sushi joint up in Windsor where they liked to go for girls'
night out, drink sake and beer after a hard aerobic workout. (Gotta reward
yourself for being good). Well, I finally made it up there... and now I can
see what they have been talking about! <More>
At first I am confused by the syntax...shouldn't it be The Korean Bear? or
perhaps The Bare Korean? (That might be interesting) But opening the door
which jangles with a bell and seeing the statue of the bear poised above the
far wall...I get it. The owners are busy in the kitchen mixing a batch of
Korean Bar-B-Que. A huge tub laden with slices of meat and red sauce. The
tables are set with bottles of chile sauce and soy sauce the Asian compliment
to salt and pepper. <More>
...I like to order chicken tacos and ladle each one with a whole container
of their special hot sauce. I've also gone through a taquito phase. You can
get those three or five to an order and it comes with shredded lettuce, tomato,
and guacamole. Our daughter likes the beef enchiladas and for years our son
ordered the quesidilla which is huge and comes filled with hot molten cheese.
Hubby likes the carne asada burrito which comes filled with tender chunks
of beef in a spicy chile gravy. <More>
This is my favorite place to hide. It's like hiding in plain sight - a busy
noisy place where no one expects to see you. I love having a margarita in
the bar, munching on chips and two kinds of salsa (red and green). I cuddle
up close to my hubby on the comfortable padded bench while two TV's show two
separate sports events simultaneously with Mexican music playing in the background.
Ole'! Hubby downs a Negra Modelo and we share an order of Hot Wings - and
I do mean HOT! <More>
