Healdsburg
is the wine county center of northern Sonoma County and makes a great base
for exploring Alexander Valley, the Russian River Valley, and Dry Creek Valley,
all of which touch Healdsburg. Driving for less than an hour from Healdsburg
you can reach the Sonoma coast to the west, Mendocino County to the north
and Napa County's wine country to the east. The restaurants that have made
Healdsburg a world class destination are clustered near the center of town,
within easy walking distance from many of the Healdsburg bed and breakfast
inns featured here.
For the more adventurous, take a canoe trip down the Russian River, or explore the area from the serenely peaceful balloon adventures that are available. Most folks, like me, will settle for some superb wine tasting and great meals.
